'Scent to Paradise!' has been selected for the 28th edition of the International Garden Festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire, France! This year's theme is wonderful: Gardens of Paradise.
My design is a visual interpretation of the bestseller 'Perfume, the story of a murderer' by Patrick Süskind. A perfume garden in her purest appearance. The plants in this garden possess the essences that perfumers like to use. Rozes, violets and heliotrope; cypresses, birch and lavender are just a few of the plants you will find in 'my' paradise. The ultimate scent, would it exist? Jean Baptiste Grenouille, the maincharacter in the book, thought it would.. I am, obviously, not showing his frantic search for the ultimate scent but I will honour the angels he sent to heaven with an elegant sculpture, a coproduction of Dutch artists Kim Kenyon and Gijs Woldhek.
I am proud and honoured to be part of this year's festival and I am so much looking forward to the upcoming months!
Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire is appr. 185 km south of Paris, the gardenfestival opens 25th april.
